Did you know, Soyela is Spanish for 'I am her'?
I also didn't know that Soyela's heritage traces back to Toltec Mexicans who are also known as 'the people of the moon's halo'. Toltec Mexicans mastered the art of nahualism, which is the ancient knowledge of dreams. Nahualism is where the tonal and nahual states of dreaming meets in the middle to create a fully unconscious but fully aware dream state, a state that Soyela is familiar with.
Soyela is also a water baby, someone who comes alive in the water, particularly the ocean once she began surfing. Because Soyela teaches water-based yoga it seemed only fitting to incorporate a water element, when researching I also discovered that the water element (when related to yoga) links with the sacral chakra, the chakra also known as the 'I am' chakra. This gave us the inspiration for the terracotta and coral colours in the logo, these colours are the colours of the sacral chakra and are also known for things like; calm, compassion, nurturing, warmth, optimism, and so much more!
The ocean element (linked to yoga) relates to the state of mind of where your mind wanders into a balanced state of conscious and unconsciousness, the same balance of nahualism. The calming turquoise and teal used to represent the water and ocean element bring you to feelings of healing, helpfulness, integrity, harmony, perseverance, and again, so much more.
With all of this in mind, and with all the dots connected, bit by bit we worked together to create the perfect logo, the logo that represents Soyela herself as well as the brand she is and will continue to be.
